I love its salty-sweet crunch, playful colors, and easy mix-and-match style for movie nights, school parties, or trick-or-treat gatherings.

Halloween Popcorn Recipe

Key Ingredients

Popcorn: Freshly popped popcorn gets the best coating and stays nice and crunchy. I use air-popped or stovetop popcorn without butter or salt so the sweet candy coating can shine.

Halloween Popcorn ingredients

Candy melts create a smooth, snappy coating that hardens as it cools. They’re easier to work with than regular chocolate chips, which can stay softer and get messy.

Candy corn adds little bursts of sweetness and those classic Halloween colors throughout the mix. I like tucking a few extra pieces into the clusters as they set so they don’t all end up on top.

Tips & Tricks

Pick out the unpopped kernels: Go through the popcorn before adding the candy coating and remove any hard, unpopped kernels. This makes the clusters easier.

Halloween Popcorn step by step

Work in batches while the candy is warm: Candy melts start to firm up as they cool, so drizzle the coating over a small section of popcorn at a time. Add the candy corn and other toppings right away before moving on to the next batch.

Let the coating set before breaking into clusters: Wait until the candy coating is completely hard before breaking the popcorn into clusters. If it’s still soft, the coating can smear and the clusters won’t hold together as nicely.
