Goat Cheese Dip is one of my favorite appetizers for entertaining because it looks impressive without requiring much work. The base is soft goat cheese, which gives the dip its signature creamy texture and slightly tangy flavor.

You can serve it with crostini, crackers, or vegetables. The dup makes a simple appetizer that works for everything from casual get-togethers to holiday parties.

Goat Cheese Dip Recipe
Key Ingredients
Goat cheese is the main ingredient. It stays soft and tangy in the oven instead of melting flat into a puddle.
Cream cheese smooths out the goat cheese and mellows its sharpness just enough. I always blend the two together first, since goat cheese alone can taste a little too tangy on its own.

Marinara sauce adds acidity and a savory tomato depth that cuts through all that rich cheese. I often use the store-bought.
Red pepper flakes add background heat that keeps the dip from tasting flat against the tangy cheese. It’s not enough to make it spicy, just enough to make the dip more flavorful.
Tips to Make It Perfect
Soften both cheeses before mixing: Cold cheese is harder to mix and can leave lumps or streaks. I take both cheeses out of the fridge about 30 minutes before mixing so they blend together smoothly.

Don’t bake it until fully melted: Goat cheese doesn’t melt the way mozzarella does, so waiting for it to go liquid just dries it out.
Warm the marinara before it goes on top: Cold sauce can keep the center of the dip from heating through. Warm the marinara on the stove before adding it so the whole dish comes out hot and evenly heated.

📌 Notes
- Soften both cheeses fully before mixing so the base spreads evenly in the dish.
- Don't overbake. Goat cheese holds its shape even when warm, so pull it once the edges look soft rather than waiting for it to melt flat.
- Warm the marinara before pouring it on so the whole dish heats evenly in the oven.
- Swap in your favorite jarred marinara to save a step.
How to Pair
Goat cheese dip tastes creamy, tangy, and lightly sweet, with savory notes from garlic and herbs. You should serve the dip with crisp, salty, or juicy pairings to balance its rich texture.

- Toasted baguette slices, crostini, and pita chips
- Cucumber rounds, bell pepper strips, and crisp radishes
- Olives, cured meats, and roasted nuts
